I am the Assistant Director of Education and Training for the Columbia Center. I also am a Professor of Geospatial Sciences and Geography in the Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture. My interests in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) grew out of my pursuit of an advanced degree in Geography at Texas A&M University. Over the last two decades, I have taught courses in most areas of the geospatial sciences at undergraduate and graduate levels. In the mid 1990s, I helped to establish a GIS laboratory in the Political Science and Geography Department. For the next decade, the Humanities Undergraduate Environmental Sciences (HUES) GIS Lab built GIS infrastructure databases for the City of Nacogdoches, the SFASU campus and completed smaller projects for other public agencies. These projects introduced students to opportunities in a working laboratory while completing their degree requirements.

Currently, I am involved with coordinating education and training programs for students and community professionals. In addition, I coordinate an Internship program that places graduate students in positions to work on geospatial projects with our partners. My research interests are centered on spatial analysis of historical sawmills in East Texas, Native American Church issues and cultural biogeography studies.
